Delightful Newborn Art Photography in Joondalup, Perth
Newborn Art Photography in my Studio in Iluka
Most of the images that you see in my gallery and website have been lovingly and carefully composed as Newborn Art Photography. The skill of a true Newborn Baby Photographer is the ability to position a newborn baby in these various poses and the results are being cherished by customers for life.
My studio and equipment is exclusively set up for newborns in mind, with many different bowls, baskets, shawls, hats and other props – to which I am adding all the time. Most of the hats and shawls I have handcrafted myself to ensure the colours & textures are available for the look I strive for my photography. As you can understand, due to this extensive array of equipment, it is easier for me to photograph your newborn in my studio.
Newborn Art Photography cannot be rushed and I therefore allow two to three hours for the photoshoot. As I only book one session per day, it won’t worry me if the session takes that amount of time or even a bit longer. The main thing for mum & dad is to relax and enjoy watching their little one having his/her first photoshoot.
Although newborn portraits are best taken 5-12 days after birth, which is the ideal time when babies still like to curl up like they were in the womb, I have also taken “newborn” photographs of babies as “old” as 7 weeks. These sessions can be a little bit more tricky, however, I still strive for some pure & innocent poses.
If you have had your baby already – and of course first of all Congratulations – and perhaps regret of not having had newborn photographs done earlier, please contact me as soon as possible. I will try my utmost to accommodate you and produce images that you will cherish and love.
What kind of photographs will be taken:
- Baby Portraits Bare Skin or with Nappy Cover
- Details Shots of face, hands & feet
- Four to five different Newborn Art set-ups with bowls, baskets & blankets
- If possible open eye photographs
- Individual Portraits with mum & dad (plus siblings)
- Family Portraits

Training, Health & Safety
My tiny newborn clients’ health & safety is my utmost priority during any photo session. Training with leading newborn photographers has taught me vital safety precautions every newborn photographer should know about and follow. Certain poses are outright dangerous, if newborns are not being supported all the time. Please be assured that I am very aware of this fact and during the shoot I may ask mum or dad to assist me in supporting baby’s head and keeping a watching eye on baby while I take the shot.
I am pleased to let you know that due to my special job as a newborn photographer, my GP agreed to give me a my booster against Whooping Cough (please see blog here) despite the fact that this vaccination is in short supply at present. Since I don’t have kids at school anymore, I don’t usually get sick. However, in the event that I was to feel unwell the day before a scheduled shoot, I would always inform my clients and re-schedule the appointment. I believe that your newborn child should not be exposed to any illnesses in the early days.
I enjoy staying up-to-date with issues of pregnancy & child birth. There are some great local and international websites that I regularly visit. Here are two examples: The Bump WA and The BabyCentre .
